The spirit of the festival

Two ancient cities.
One finish.

Within the district of Didim, about 21 kilometres apart by road, stand two great ancient cities: Didyma — the Temple of Apollo, famed for its oracle, and Miletus, the brilliant harbour city of Ionia.

Didim Run Festival connects them with road and trail races. The Marathon runs from Didim to Miletus and back; the Half Marathon and the 22K Trail start in Miletus and head to Didim. The 10K, 5K and Kids' Run take place in the heart of Didim.

And every race ends in the same place: the shared finish area in the shadow of the Temple of Apollo.

        Documents & kit pick-up
        • Race bibs are handed over on presentation of official photo ID showing your date of birth.
        • For the Marathon, a current, valid athletics licence or a medical certificate stating you are fit to run is mandatory on race day. Runners who cannot present one will not receive their kit or bib.
        • All participants must hand in a signed waiver including their ID/passport number, full name, date and address. Runners who do not submit a waiver will not receive a bib or chip; they may collect their kit on request.
        • Kit and chip pick-up takes place on 26–27 February 2027, 10:00–19:00, at Didim Town Square on Atatürk Boulevard. Late pick-up is on 28 February, 05:00–07:00, at the stand in front of the Temple of Apollo.
        • Kits, bibs, trophies, plaques and medals are not sent by post or courier.
        Age groups & rankings
        • The Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 22K Trail have overall and age-group rankings. The 5K has an overall ranking only.
        • Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K age groups (women and men): 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70+.
        • 22K Trail age groups (women and men): 29 and under, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60+.
        • Your age group is determined by your exact age on race day (28 February 2027).
        • The overall podium is decided by the first three runners across the finish line (gun time); age groups and other rankings use chip time. Overall podium finishers are not included in the age-group rankings.
        • The Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K courses are certified and measured.
        Cancellations, refunds & changing races
        • Until 8 February 2027, cancellations for reasons supported by a doctor's report receive a full refund of the entry fee.
        • From 9 to 20 February 2027, cancellations supported by a doctor's report receive a 75% refund.
        • After 21 February 2027, entries cannot be cancelled.
        • Refunds are paid to a bank account (IBAN) in the runner's own name.
        • You may change races until 20 February 2027. Switching to a cheaper race is not refunded; switching to a more expensive race costs the difference at the current period's price.
        • Entries are personal and cannot be transferred. Bibs found to be worn by someone else are disqualified immediately.
        22K Trail · mandatory gear & penalties
        • Mandatory gear: a waterproof jacket, a foil emergency blanket and a water bottle of at least 500 ml. Each missing item carries a 30-minute time penalty. Gear may be checked anywhere on the course.
        • The course is 95% trail and 5% asphalt, stone and concrete road, with about 400 m of elevation gain.
        • Cutting the course by up to 300 m carries a 15-minute penalty, and by up to 1 km a one-hour penalty; longer shortcuts lead to disqualification.
        • Aid stations (7.1 km and 11.5 km) offer water, soda, cola, cheese, salty crackers, salt, cake, bananas and lemon.
        Disqualification & in-race rules
        • Runners without a bib are not allowed on the course; runners without a bib and chip are not timed.
        • On the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K courses, runners who cut the course, leave it and rejoin elsewhere, or use any vehicle are disqualified.
        • Unsporting behaviour, deliberately harming other runners or disturbing others may lead to disqualification.
        • Medical staff may withdraw and disqualify any runner they consider unfit to continue.
        • Runners who give incomplete or false information will have their bib and chip cancelled.
        • Parts of the Marathon course reopen to traffic at set times. Runners behind the time limit may continue, but at their own risk in traffic. An ambulance follows the last runner within the time limit.
        • Runners take part at their own responsibility on all courses and agree to follow the race rules.
        Results & protests
        • Timing protests can be made while provisional results are published; disputes are decided by the organiser on the advice of the referees.
        • In protests or suspicious cases, runners may be asked for proof, and GPS/watch data, photos and videos may be reviewed.
        • Timing chips are attached to the race bib. A second chip or a shoe chip may be used if deemed necessary.
Cancellation or postponement of the event
        • If the race is cancelled due to force majeure up to 21 days before the start, entry fees are refunded in full.
        • If cancelled between 20 and 7 days before, 75% of the fee is refunded, or the entry can be transferred to the following year.
        • If cancelled within the last 7 days, fees are not refunded; entries can be transferred to the following year on request.
        • If a course is changed for any reason (provided the road courses remain certified and measured), fees are not refunded.
        • If the race is postponed, runners may request a refund; otherwise it is held on the new date under the same conditions.
